Thought For The Day
Yesterday is history. Tomorrow a mystery. Today is a gift.
That's why it's called the present! Anon.
Did You Know?
That some of the most stressful events, in a work environment, are thought to be: -
Budgets and target analysis, changing jobs, and Christmas deadlines?
And yet some of the most uplifting episodes at work can be: -
Hitting a target on schedule, getting a new job, and celebrating Christmas with colleagues!
That some of the most stressful times in our personal lives are believed to be: -
Births & deaths, marriages & divorces, moving house, and the organisation of Christmas?
And yet some of the most positive periods in our personal lives can be: -
Births, marriages, moving house, and enjoying the Christmas festivities!
What will Christmas mean to you this year? Stress or success?
30-Second Stress Buster Exercise
Do you spend a lot of time sitting at your desk typing?
You may be a fast touch typist churning out pages and pages,
or you may be a two-fingered keyboard stabber?
In either case, over time you may find that you start to develop stress signals or symptoms in your hands / wrists / elbows or even shoulders.
Carpel tunnel syndrome is increasing dramatically, in our age of technology, and tennis elbow is no longer limited to sports people.
Try relaxing as you type, and have a go at this simple 30-second exercise, while sitting at your desk: - - Inhale into to your belly.
- Exhale: and stretch your arms straight out to the sides.
- Inhale a large breath into your belly.
- As you slowly exhale: swing your arms around in big circles, gradually getting smaller and smaller until you run out of breath, and are doing tiny rotations with the arms still straight.
- Inhale to your belly and stretch out through the fingertips.
- As you slowly exhale: keep your arms straight, and make circles with the hands, rotating from the wrist joint, until you run out of breath.
- Inhale to your belly and stretch out through the fingertips.
- As you slowly exhale: keep your arms straight, and make circles with the hands in the other direction, until you run out of breath.
- Inhale to your belly and stretch out through the fingertips.
- As you slowly exhale: make tiny circles with the arms still out straight, gradually getting bigger and bigger until you run out of breath and are doing large swings, but in the opposite direction to how you began the exercise.
- Inhale to your belly and let your arms drop down beside you.
- Exhale: and give your arms a shake.
Take a moment to feel the blood and energy flowing through your arms, elbows and wrists right into your fingertips. Whenever you notice the energy flow getting blocked, or the circulation in your hands seems poor, try this exercise.
