30-Second Stress Buster Exercises For Commuting
Do you often find yourself stuck in queues unable to move? Traffic jams, crowds on train station platforms, lines of people waiting at bus stops…?
In this day and age, as we are conditioned to keep moving and not stand still, we can find these delays during our day frustrating. We may churn thoughts over in our heads about the things we could be doing, if only we could get to where we are heading.
Often there is nothing we can do to get moving except to wait. Why not use these moments as opportunities to practice 30-second stress busters?

One of the keys to managing stress to live in the moment, and not let thoughts or worries about future events continually nag at you.
Next time you are stuck in a jam, try acknowledging thoughts that are circulating in your head and then letting them go for 30-seconds while you give this exercise a go…

  • Use your mind’s eye to visualise yourself floating above the car/bus/train/platform.
  • Then look down at the queue of traffic or people below you.
  • Floating further up, image how the surrounding streets look from up high.
  • Fly higher still and see the whole town or city.
  • Go thousands of feet up and imagine what the land would seem like from there.
  • Up in the atmosphere now, visualise how the whole country would appear.
  • Deep in outer space, look down on the planet.
  • Finally return to your place on the earth, and know that what is really important is simply that you are here, now.
